We’re back from the cruise!

January 31, 2007 at 12:42 pm (Uncategorized)

Did I mention I was going on a cruise? We took the whole fam damily and had a ball!! I’ve never been on a cruise before, this trip lasted 7 days and was the perfect amount of time to be on a boat. Any longer and I’d have had to start watching TV. There’s only so much you can do while at sea.

The boys spent many days at Camp Carnival. A wonderful experience for kids 2 – 5. Brody and Evan came home every day with their faces painted like batman! We swam in the pool, ate our faces off, and had quiet evening dinners. It was awesome.

This wasn’t any normal cruise, we just happened to be on the Grand Ol’ Opry cruise!! Lorena eat your heart out! I played cards with Sammy “yum yum” Kershaw! He taught me how to play Carribean Stud. It’s a card game you pervs. When Lori and I were in our 20’s we had major crushes on him and his tight jeans. I tell ya, once I figured out who he was (it took me a moment to recognize him) my face was in a permanent blush state! Michael wouldn’t let me make a ship to shore phone call to tell Lori. Meany!

Michael laughed and thought it was funny that I blushed about Sammy Kershaw. You know, a girl’s crush is very serious! My parents were totally GREEN with envy that we happened upon this GOO cruise. After 7 days, I realized, these country folk really like to gamble!

Photos will be forthcoming. I haven’t had a moment to myself to actually post pictures. Maybe tonight. However, tomorrow is share day at Brody’s school and he’s insisting upon a poster board with all of our pictures outlining his face painting adventures so that he can show his class.

Brody really cracks me up, we took them off the ship in Mazatlan and Brody pipes up “why is everyone speaking Spanish?” I really laughed – because you never know what is going to come out of his mouth. It’s amazing to me that he recognized it.

We docked in Long Beach on Sunday and finally debarked, collected our luggage (all 15 pieces of it), hauled it to the truck – only to find the truck battery dead. I guess the tow truck driver said they receive about 15 calls a day from the terminal about dead batteries. 🙂 We weren’t the only dumb dumbs.

It’s a new year… wah

January 5, 2007 at 12:45 pm (Uncategorized)

So I’m not going to make any resolutions for this year. I am hoping to lose about 10 more pounds (all from the backside of me) and I’m joining the gym. I’ve decided that I really need to get some exercise and it’s the best and easiest way for me to do that. Plus, Michael’s had amazing results just doing the stair mill. However, if I publicly form a list and advise everyone I know – I’m bound to fail. That’s just how I am.

I’m also going to start taking my vitamins again. I stopped and I’m really feeling the change. A change you don’t want to hear about. Trust me on this.

In a few short weeks, the whole family will be going to Long Beach to board a cruise ship for a fun filled 7 day cruise to the Fantastic Mexican Riviera!! YIPPEE!! I cannot tell you how excited I am! Did I mention the cruise ship has a camp for kids and that the kids don’t need to be potty trained? And that we can leave them there all day if we choose? They also have babysitting – for evening activities. I doubt we’ll be using those services because they don’t start until 10:00 PM!!!

We have made reservations at a hotel on Manhattan Beach so that we can really enjoy our time off. It will give the boys an opportunity to play in the sand and ocean and it will start the relaxation process for Michael and I. We had originally planned on leaving the Saturday before the cruise, but I have been invited to play in an online tournament that day – so we need to drive the night before. Or really early in the morning (and none of us were too excited about that option).

It’s funny, now that the boys are getting older – we can actually take their opinions into account. They have very decisive opinions about everything from socks to dinner. Brody is in the habit of telling (errr whining) about clothes now. I can no longer go shopping for him without him. I’ll bring home clothes, he’ll decide he doesn’t like something and I’ll have to bring it back. I tend to buy them clothes that cost a little more than usual, because they have to last through two very active children. The thought of someone else entertaining my children WHILE on vacation is so enticing!

Of course, we’ll most likely spend all of our time together – but the thought of the camp is awesome! Also, the thought of me spending most of my time reading/knitting/sleeping in a lounge chair by the pool is making me useless in every other aspect of my life! 14 days until we leave!
